Young Guns Make Big Impact

September 21, 2004 -- Rampaging Mike Alvarado continued his ring dominance in short fashion last night at the Wings Over the Rockies Museum on the former Lowry Military Base. The Junior Welterweight had to wait as his bout was placed as the final bout of the evening. The wait was well worth it as Alvarado made quick work of his opponent Candelario Garcia Jr. Garcia appearing in Muay Thai trunks appeared a bit intimidated by Alvarado's Trinidad like appearance. Alvarado made quick work of Garcia throwing bombs from the bell. Garcia offered little resistance as he was dropped early and often. At 1:49 of the first, Garcia was dropped for good with what appeared to be a pure power knockout. As it becomes more and more difficult to find opponents to take on Alvarado, those who are now calling him out may have to live up to their unfounded boasts.

Recent Young Guns addition DeAndrey Abron, an Army Military Police Officer and amateur veteran of over 300 amateur bouts, continued the Young Guns tradition by knocking out his opponent in his pro debut. In only 49 seconds, Abron, known as the Black Diamond, knocked his opponent down three times. Joe Bouton was dropped with the very first punch of the evening and rose only to be dropped by body shots and powerful hooks to the head. The final shot bent Bouton's leg behind his back as he fell causing a severe ankle sprain. Look for more big knockouts from DeAndrey as one of his only losses in the amateurs was to the lone Olympic gold medalist Andre Ward. DeAndrey, along with the entire Young Guns camp, currently trains with current IBF World Jr. Middleweight Champion Verno Phillips under the tutelage of trainers Trevor Whittman, Jake Ramos and Shann Vilhauer.

All of the Young Guns will be back in action on October 16 at the Graystone Castle located at I-25 & 120th. Look for the return of heavyweight "The Sagrado Warrior" Kenny Lemos, 3-0 featherweight Manuel Perez, Jr. Lightweight Hector Saez and new Young Guns stable mate Larry "The Pit Bull" Gonzales. Mike Alvarado looks to go to 5-0 while DeAndrey looks to grab his second win in less than a month.
